Summary: Denethor has passed, Faramir has been brought back silent and unconscious and Boromir has just gotten the word to head out to Rivendell.

When I’m Gone

It had not been a good week for Boromir of Gondor, it had started on the Monday evening, he had been sitting down for his supper, The first time he had eaten alone for many months, when a yell rang out through the White Towers.

Boromir recognized his father’s voice right away, it sounded so similar to when Denethor had yelled at Faramir, That Boromir thought his brother had returned from Ithilien, he had run towards the sound, hoping to see his beloved Faramir again.

Instead, his eyes widened as father’s yelling had turned to screaming, then a horrible wailing sound, more like a Nazgûl’s death cries then a man speaking in anger.

Boromir had only just gotten into the hallway near the door his father could be heard from, when there was a flash of, what seemed to be black light, followed by a concussive wave that threw him to the ground and into darkness.

He was woken by the sound of his name being called, before a hand, recognisable as one of the healers, gently shook his shoulder, shaking him off, Boromir went into the room where his father had been, the healers were already putting the body on one of the stretchers, his father was most obviously dead, shards of what looked like black glass embedded in his face,chest and torso, though the pieces were thicker as well as harder than any glass Boromir had seen.

As soon as it was officially declared, Boromir wrote to Ithilien, a simple note, informing Faramir of father’s passing and requesting he make his way back to the White City, if the small smudges in the writing looked suspiciously like tears, no one said anything about it, they just passed the message to the courier.
