Chapter 17
“Haldir?”
Haldir’s eyes instantly clear and he stares into confused blue eyes, for a moment they just stare at each other. Then Faramir repeats his question even softer than the first time; “Haldir?”
Faramir moves himself around in Haldir’s arms, facing him, his hand moves to touch Haldir’s face. His voice comes out in a faint broken whisper; “I thought you were dead.”
Unable to say anything back Haldir just gawks at Faramir and then pulls him in closer to his body, mindful of his injuries, but needing him to be as close as possible.
For just one heartbeat Faramir’s body goes rigid, but then he relaxes into the hug. He closes his eyes, breathing in the clean scent of this beautiful Elf. He finds himself wishing for all things to come to a stop, so he can stay like this forever. But then Haldir speaks; “We should wake Boromir, he has been worried sick for you.”
Faramir unconsciously pulls Haldir even closer to him, burying his head in his chest as he whispers; “Just a little longer, just let me have you for just a little bit longer.”
I’ll have to let you go soon enough, please let me just have this…
Unaware of the last words only spoken in Faramir’s mind, Haldir bends his head to kiss Faramir on the top of his head and continues to hold him. Slowly the silence takes over, only interrupted by the morning song of unseen birds. Their heart rates slow until they beat in the same steady rhythm.
Haldir opens his eyes and smiles when he realises it, knowing it to be the beginning of a bond that will never be broken. Inside his soul he gives praise to the ever wise Valar for helping him find this great Man and giving their blessing on their union. He loosens Faramir just enough to hold his head between his hands. Faramir feels saddened inside and reluctantly opens his eyes to face the inevitable end of his one perfect moment.
The inner light in Haldir’s blue eyes stuns him, he hardly has time to think about the meaning of it as Haldir’s lips are coming closer to his. Breath caresses him as Haldir just stays there, his lips slightly opened, leaving the final decision to Faramir.
All Faramir can do is give in, closing his eyes and leaning in. He leaves gentle pressure on silken lips and they open to him. Softness moves against each other, unrushed and intense. Unbeknownst to either of them, this is where the healing begins, where souls begin to mend as the love for each other fills the wounds left by others.
Overwhelmed, Faramir backs away a little bit, when he opens his eyes he lets out a small surprised sound; “Haldir, you are glowing!”
Haldir smiles and lets his hand caress Faramir’s cheek; “So are you, my love.”
Faramir stares at the shining beauty for just a bit longer, but then lets his head drop; “You shouldn’t call me that…”
“Why not? It is how I feel about you.”
“Because you shouldn’t feel that way at all, I am not worthy of your love.”
“Faramir…” Haldir lifts Faramir’s chin up, but Faramir immediately tilts his head away, his eyes staying firmly on the ground. Haldir is about to say something, when Faramir speaks; “I just can’t Haldir, not now,” he looks up into Haldir’s eyes, “I just can’t let you love me, not now, not after what I…”
Faramir stops himself and Haldir starts to rub his back in soothing circles, hoping it will help him speak his heart. Faramir chews on his bottom lip and then looks up at the sky. Haldir sees unshed tears shimmer in sad, blue eyes and then Faramir gets up in a hurried movement and walks off.
Haldir sighs and shifts himself to an upright position, a little sound to his right makes him look in that direction and he sees Boromir all but ready to storm after his little brother. He gives a small shake of his head at the Man; “Just leave him be Boromir.”
“But he is upset.”
“Yes.” Haldir stares at the little sitting figure of Faramir in the distance, “He is.”
Without Haldir seeing it Boromir’s face scrunches up in irritation; “So we are just going to leave him crying his eyes out all alone?!”
“Yes.” Haldir turns his head towards the angry Boromir and the tears in the Elf’s eyes startle him a little; “We are.”
Haldir turns his head back and stares at the ground, his voice sounds shaky and soft as he says; “We are going to leave him alone and wait for him to come to us.”
His voice breaks down to just a whisper; “No matter how much it hurts.”
And with that Haldir gets up and starts to gather together their few belongings. Boromir just stares at the Elf and then shakes his head and mumbles under his breath; “Just when I thought I had him all figured out…”
After deciding that the safest place for them to go, was Haldir’s home in the Golden Woods, they rode all day.
Boromir kept glancing over to his very silent little brother with sadness in his heart, Faramir never was silent, he used to talk his ears off his head. It was on one of those glances that Boromir saw it. Faramir’s eyes were glued to the back of a certain blond Elf, but when said Elf turned around, Faramir would be carefully studying the reins in his hands. Boromir felt himself smiling, apparently not all of his brother’s personality had been lost.
That night when Haldir laid himself down to sleep he smiled as well, all day he had felt Faramir’s eyes on him and even though his beloved hadn’t so much as spoken a word to him, he felt hopeful.
Haldir awakens because someone is leaning over him, in a flash he pulls out his knife and holds it to his attackers throat. He is shocked to find it is Faramir’s throat that he is threatening to slice, but before he can take it away, Faramir leans in gently, forcing Haldir to move with him. When Haldir is completely laying on his back, Faramir’s face only inches away from his, Faramir takes the knife with trembling fingers and puts it aside. Haldir feels slightly uncomfortable, his face full of questions, but then Faramir leans in further and kisses him. He feels his eyes slide shut and his body start to tingle as he gives himself over to the moment.
It is not until Faramir pulls away that Haldir opens his mouth to ask what is going on, that immediately a finger is placed on his lips and a small shake of Faramir’s head silences him. Faramir shifts a little on top of him and Haldir only now notices that they are both rock hard. From the way Faramir shifts again he gathers that he has noticed as well. Faramir’s hand moves to the top button of Haldir’s tunic and stops there, Haldir looks up and sees Faramir’s quiet eyes take him in. Knowing he is been asked for permission he nods and then feels his tunic being unbuttoned, one button at the time.
When his tunic is completely opened, he feels hands slide under his undershirt, starting at his belly and then moving the fabric up. He sighs with the lovely feeling of hands sliding over his flesh, but he is still unsure of what is going on and if all of this is not too much too soon.
Next he feels a hand still over his trapped erection, rubbing it a little through the fabric, he lets out a surprised moan, but when Faramir’s hand starts to unlace his leggings, he can’t help but grab Faramir’s wrist, questions and warnings in his eyes.
All Faramir does is lean in again and kiss him, slow and sensual and then he breaks the kiss and stares at him again. Haldir looks deep into Faramir’s eyes and then very carefully lets go off his wrist. Faramir undoes his leggings as well as his own and he feels Faramir spread the pre come over his erection and take both their lengths in his hand and just start to rock. Faramir bends down again and Haldir opens up to him, deepening their kiss.
For a moment memories of another time when his leggings where unlaced just enough to provide someone access flash through his head, but there is something about this Man, this gentle moving, this all over body sensation that speaks of giving, rather than taking and he feels himself relax, just riding these gentle waves of love.
They move in silence for some time, tasting each other and just moving enough to get some friction, but keeping their pace slow. When Haldir feels himself get close, he puts his arms around Faramir, pulling him closer to him and the soft sigh that caresses his ear, pulls him over the edge and into comfortable bliss.
They kiss for a few more moments and then Faramir cleans them up a little and lays himself down, draping Haldir’s arm around him until he is spooning him. When Haldir kisses the top of Faramir’s head he hears a little sigh and then he feels that Faramir has fallen asleep. Smiling to himself, he lets himself drift off to sleep as well.
Haldir wakes when Faramir tries to get up without waking him, he snuggles in closer for a moment, but lets go as he feels Faramir tense. His back still turned towards Haldir, Faramir whispers;
“I’m sorry.”
And then he all but runs away.
