Chapter 15
“Go get a sheet or something else to wrap him in.”; at Haldir’s barked order one of the men hurries out the room, clutching one of Lexius’s servants by her arm to lead the way. Boromir hovers around Haldir trying to better see his little brother, who Haldir is still cradling close to his body, hiding him from sight.
“What happened, is he alright? Let me see him!”
“Not now Boromir.” The man returns with a sheet and Haldir wraps Faramir in it as fast as he can; “We have to go.”
Boromir grabs Haldir’s upper arm, “We are not going anywhere before you tell me what is going on and if he is hurt, then we are certainly not going before he is taken care of!”
“Boromir! We have to go, let go of me, NOW!”
“No! What in the Gods names is going on?!”
Haldir glares at Boromir, but then his features soften, he looks around him and then leans in closer to Boromir to whisper; “He has killed Lexius, we have to go because when he is missed and they find him like this, we will have the whole city after us.”
Boromir pales as realisation sets in, it was the one thing they had to agree on to get Dremair to lent them his men. Lexius could not be killed, harmed yes, but he had too many powerful men as friends, who would want revenge if he were murdered. He swallows and nods. Haldir nods as well in answer and then clutches Faramir a little tighter to him; “Tie the servants up together and gag them. You can notify someone to go and ‘find’ them in about an hour from now.”
As the men busy themselves with the servants, Haldir makes a movement with his head to Boromir and they make their way to the backdoor, they are out of the building and three streets away before the men even notice they are missing.
Running all the way to where their horses wait, all packed up and ready, an extra one for Faramir, they hear the first screams behind them when they reach the stable doors. Within moments they are on the horses and making their way through white streets at lightning speed. The sound of hooves bouncing off the walls is quickly being followed by alarm bells. They reach the gate just when the alarms reach the guards, who are starting to close the doors.
Haldir leans forward over Faramir’s still form. “Like the wind”; he whispers in Elvish; “be like the wind.”
The horse raises his head and then stretches it out forward, his muscles ripple beneath his skin, his mane moves in the wind and he practically flies through the closing gate, followed closely by Boromir and the extra horse. The heavy doors shut and set them free.
First he is scared, but as master Lexius comes at him, he feels himself get very quiet inside. It is not like it matters anymore, nothing matters anymore, all hope is gone. He feels ridiculous for holding on to dreams of a better life as he is dragged through the room by his hair. Blows falling wherever master Lexius can reach him. As his clothes are torn off him, he tells himself; this is your life, there never will be anything better than this, this is it. While he is made to kneel on the floor, his wrists bound to a chair before him, he almost smiles at the irony of it all, this is it, the cane hits his bare back, pain.
This is your life, this is what you are. For a moment he feels sad for the boy who used to dream, used to believe in something better. But that boy is no more.
Only pain now as the cane comes down on his back in an agonizing rhythm, master Lexius standing over him, screaming at him, but he doesn’t hear.
He is surprised to notice tears rolling off his cheeks and then out of nowhere there is a white hot pain running threw him, he smells burning flesh and he screams out his pain. He jerks up as much as he can within his restrains and then doubles over, his forehead nearly touching the ground. He struggles for breath and hears master Lexius tell him that next time it won’t be just a poker, he is to be branded as his property.
His property.
The quiet inside Faramir begins to turn to fire, as master Lexius begins to untie his wrists believing him to be broken. Faramir knows what will follow now, master Lexius will fuck him till he will bleed. The second he is loose, Faramir pushes at master Lexius and runs for the door, only to be stopped and hurled back. Before he can regain his footing master Lexius is upon him, throwing them both over, they roll over the floor, hitting each other where they can. Master Lexius is stronger and has more experience, but Faramir fights with pure desperation, grabbing whatever he can to hit him with. Kicking at him, spitting, clawing, grabbing handfuls of white blonde hair and ripping it from Master Lexius’s head. Finally he can gather his legs under him and kicks master Lexius away.
He jumps up and then sees the knife that has cut him so many times, leaving burning pain in scarlet on his body, laying on a table by the bed. Master Lexius scrambles up and follows Faramir’s stare and at the exact same time they both jump for the knife. Landing on the bed, Faramir reaches it first, but master Lexius lands on top of him. A struggle follows, in which the knife goes from hand to hand, master Lexius laughs and rubs his crotch on Faramir, making promises of what he will do to Faramir and then suddenly the knife is in Faramir’s side. It is a shallow cut, but Faramir’s eyes widen and all reason leaves him as the fire inside him turns to an inferno. He screams and grabs master Lexius’s hand with the knife in it and with all that he is pushes.
The world before his eyes turns crimson and he will never remember what happened after that.
