Summary: Foreign diplomats discuss the Steward Boromir. A side drabble occuring sometime between the drabbles ‘Second Place’ and ‘First Place’ and before ‘First Love.’ Reposted for 25fluffyfics Prompt: ‘Reunion.’
Two Diplomats from Harondor stood in the corner of the Hall of Feasts.
“What do you think of the Steward Boromir?” The senior diplomat asked of the lesser.
“He seems a capable sort—very shrewd, business-like. Though…”
“Though what, sir?”
“I like a negotiator who knows of what he speaks, but it is disconcerting that he has not smiled once in our presence,” the lesser explained.
“Our business here is quite serious; perhaps, he recognizes the gravity.” The senior posed.
“The King and his Prince Consort smile—other noblemen smile; he does not. I’ve never trusted a man who never smiles,” observing Boromir near the Royal Couple.
A Gondoran advisor had been listening to their conversation and decided to intervene on Lord Boromir’s behalf—a good and kind man.
“Forgive my intrusion, but I could, but hear your discussion. Not to insult, but Lord Boromir is very trustworthy and pleasant to be around. It’s just that someone quite dear to him has been away, affecting his mood.” He informed them.
“A wife?” One asked.
“A son?” The other posed.
“A brother.” The visitors looked towards Boromir and the smile that graced his face took their breaths away.
Faramir was home…
