Summary: Faramir chances upon a traveller in need of shelter.

AN: This fic is based on Kissa’s Midwinter Swap Fic request. I liked the sound of it so much, I asked if I could use it. Happily she said yes, so here it is.

Request – I would like to read a Faramir/Rúmil fic, one where it’s Yule and young Ranger Faramir finds a lost elf in the woods. The elf has barely come of age and has never left the safety of Lórien before, so now he’s lost and scared. It’s too late and too cold to walk back to Lórien, but our favorite Ranger appears and rescues Rúmil. I would like them to be cute, act like the youngsters they are (and at least one of them to have his first time!). Oh, and it has to be a fluffy, sweet NC17! Pretty please with Rangers on top!

A Chance Meeting

To Faramir, it had seemed like it had taken forever to light a fire. Most of the wood on the forest floor was soaking wet, for it had rained constantly for the past few days.

Now soaked through and shivering with cold, he settled himself in front of the fire which he had positioned carefully at the entrance of a cave and wondered briefly if he could go without food for the night.

He decided with a sigh that he could not, he had worked up quite an appetite, and besides, the other rangers would want to know what he had done on his days away from the main camp.

“This is all a test,” he reminded himself; every ranger had to do it. They all had to spend a week alone in the forest to show that they had the skills to survive alone in the wilds before they could progress from fledgling (as those in training were affectionately called) to fully qualified ranger.

Faramir was the youngest fledgling to have ever got to this stage, and some still doubted he should be there, but he had passed all the other stages and he was determined to show them that he was good enough.

More importantly, after his week was up, he was going home for the Yule festival, and he would dearly love to be able to tell his father and brother that, at the age of seventeen, he was a fully instated ranger; Boromir would be so proud of him.

He stripped off his tunic and laid it by the fire before grabbing his bow and arrows and getting ready to brave the elements once more. Hopefully by the time he had returned, his tunic would be nearly dry and he could rid himself of his other clothes for a while.

He snorted in amusement; it was just his luck to have his turn in the middle of the unforgiving winter, in the torrential rain and blistering winds. At least, he thought, the other rangers will not see me hunting in my underclothes.

It did not take Faramir very long to realise that hunting was hopeless in these weather conditions, and so he turned his search instead to edible plants and tree roots, not the most enjoyable things to eat, but at least he would be able to make himself a hot stew.

He had gathered himself enough for three or four meals when he started to head back to the cave, it was then that he noticed a piece of torn cloth hanging from a nearby tree.

On closer inspection, he realised that the cloth was not from any garment made in Gondor, in fact, he would have sworn it was Elven, but elves never usually ventured into this part of Ithilien.

“Anyone there?” he could not help but call out, trying again when only the howling wind greeted him.

This time he thought he heard a faint cry and ventured towards it. He had not gone far, when he stumbled across a curled up figure, trying to search shelter under the branches of a holly bush.

“Are you alright?” he asked gently, spacing a hand on the figure’s shoulder. “Come with me, I have food, shelter and a fire to get you warm.”

When the figure did not move, Faramir tried again, this time in Elvish, and gently tugged at the creature’s arm to empathise that he wanted him to move.

This time the figure did move, but cried out sharply in pain as he tried to stand. He mumbled something, but even Faramir’s sharp hearing did not hear what it was, the wind carrying the words quickly away.

“You are hurt,” Faramir said again in Elvish. “Put your arm around me, I will support you.”

He noticed that the figure was very slim, and a little shorter than himself. He had a cloak wrapped firmly around him, the hood covering most of his face, and in fact, Faramir could see no features of his companion at all. He wondered briefly if he was doing the right thing, this creature could be anyone, or indeed anything, and not all creatures were good. But in his heart he knew that this creature was no danger to him, just a traveller in need of help.

Getting back to the cave where Faramir had set up camp proved difficult. They battled hard against the wind which blew straight at them, the rain turning to hail and hitting hard against Faramir’s exposed skin. When they eventually arrived back, the ranger helped his companion to sit down by the fire, and then picked up the tunic he had left earlier, it was nearly dry.

“Here take this,” he said offering it to his companion. “You will catch your death in those wet clothes.”

“Nay, elves do not feel the cold as humans do, you need that more than I,” replied the stranger taking off his cloak, showing his face for the first time. He was indeed an elf, and Faramir could not help but notice his delicate bone structure which matched his slim build and the graceful look he had about him. He was very beautiful and would have been more so if it was not for the clumps of soaking wet, blond hair which fell around his face.

“I am Rúmil of Lothlórien,” he added shyly offering his hand, in the way he knew men to greet each other. “Thank you for your kindness.”

“Faramir of Gondor,” replied the Ranger. “And you are most welcome. We must look out for others in the wilds of Ithilien.”

“How did you hurt your ankle?” asked Faramir curiously, inspecting it carefully. “It is very swollen.”

At his question, Rúmil blushed and looked away. “You will laugh,” he said quietly.

“I will not laugh, and I promise that I will not tell another living soul if you do not wish me to,” replied Faramir solemnly as he continued to tend to the elf’s injury. He could not help but notice how endearing his companion’s blush was.

“Well you see… it was windy, and dark. And there was this noise behind me. It startled me. And… well I… Ifelloutofatree.”

Faramir had to try hard to keep a straight face and not to laugh; it was not so much about what the elf had done, but his sheer embarrassment over the incident which was amusing, though he could understand how such a thing would be an extremely sore point indeed to a tree elf.

It takes a long time to get used to the sounds of the forest,” he replied seriously, avoiding the real reason for Rúmil’s embarrassment. “I still get startled sometimes.”

Rúmil smiled happily as Faramir started to prepare a meal for them, and now feeling less shy, he started to bombard the young ranger with all sorts of questions, which Faramir was all too happy to answer, and in return Rúmil explained how he and his brother’s had become separated on a trip home from a diplomatic mission.

“So you see,” he explained. “I got lost and was trying to find my way back on the right track. I must return soon, Haldir will be waiting for me, and he will be terribly worried about me.”

“Haldir is my brother,” he continued smiling with pride. “He is the Marchwarden of Lórien, and he raised my brother Orophin and I since we were tiny.”

“I have a brother too,” replied Faramir cheerfully. “Boromir is a warrior too, a captain. One day he will be Commander General, everyone says so.”

“He looked after me too. Our mother died when I was a baby, and my father is… well… He is a very busy man.”

Time passed quickly, and soon they were fed, warm and dry.

“We will need plenty of energy tomorrow if I am to get you back on your way to Lórien,” Faramir said finally, somewhat reluctantly. “We must try and get a good night’s rest.”

They settled down, and got themselves as comfortable as possible but still could not resist talking much longer into the night. They were completely exhausted when sleep finally overcame them and they slept on through until late in the morning.

It was Faramir who awoke first, his eyes instantly coming to rest on the Elvish form lying just a short distance away from him. Rúmil looked so much more beautiful in the light of the day, his hair shimmering in the sunlight, and he could not help but wonder what it would be like to kiss those delightful looking lips.

He was no stranger to love between men, although he had never experienced it himself, never wanted to, but now he had to admit to himself how attracted he was to this sleeping elf, and how he would like to try all that he had seen.

The weather was much kinder to them when they set out, just a short while later. The rains had ceased during the night, and a layer of thick, crisp snow had settled on the ground.

Rúmil’s ankle had healed well and though he still had a slight limp he could easily keep up with Faramir’s pace. It seemed to both of them that if they walked briskly, they would get to their destination in no time. However they could not help but stop every so often, the snow far too tempting to leave alone. They threw it at each other happily and reverted back to their childhood, remembering a time not too long ago for either of them when life had been much more carefree.

It was Rúmil who stopped to throw a snowball this time hitting Faramir on his right shoulder. The ranger laughed, and instantly responded by ducking behind a tree and sending over two snowballs of his own in return. He bid a hasty retreat however, when his companion advanced towards him with an armful of snow.

Unable to see where he was going, Rúmil tripped over a tree-root, slightly exposed above the snow’s surface, sending him flying into Faramir and causing then to land in a heap on the floor in fits of giggles.

When the laughter ceased, Rúmil found himself looking into the mesmerising eyes of the man underneath him. Before yesterday, he had never seen a man up close and he found that this one fascinated him.

Though he tried to push such thoughts away, he could not help but wonder if men were attracted to other males as elves were, and would Faramir be disgusted if he just…

He slowly closed the gap between them and pressed his lips firmly against Faramir’s own. Before the ranger could react however, he was already pulling away.

“Forgive me, I could not resist.”

As he tried to stand, Faramir placed his hands on Rúmil’s hips holding him in place. “Do not ask me for forgiveness for you have done nothing to offend me,” he said softly, smiling broadly. “Still if you must apologise for something, let it be the fact you did not give me long enough to respond to your advances.”

With that he sat up and returned the kiss, gently at first but then becoming more passionate as Rúmil returned the kiss, their tongues dancing together, trying to explore one another’s taste for the first time.

Faramir could not help but moan at Rúmil’s sweetness which reminded him of fruits and berries. He surprised himself by pulling frantically at the bindings of the elf’s tunic, he had only had a couple of lovers previously, and none had sparked such a reaction within him. He found himself wanting to touch and taste every part of his companion’s body.

Soon their tunics were discarded on the forest floor, and their hands were running over each other’s well defined muscles, exploring each other’s bodies, their arousals rubbing against each other through the fabric of their leggings.

“I have never done this before,” he whispered quietly, breaking off the kiss, hoping that Rúmil would guide him along so as to make this experience as pleasurable for both of them as possible.

“Nor have I,” replied the elf, placing kisses over Faramir’s chest. “At least never as far as I wish this to go. I want you to take me.”

“Gods yes, I want that,” said Faramir breathlessly, his body tingling everywhere his Elven companion touched. With a soft growl he reversed their positions, pinning Rúmil against the ground, and within minutes, the rest of their clothing joined their tunics on the floor, freeing their arousals from their restraints.

He kissed Rúmil’s neck and continued downwards, kissing and licking every spot his mouth found, his fingers teasing the elf’s nipples as he did so, causing Rúmil to whimper and wriggle beneath him.

When his lips found his companion’s erection, lying hard against his stomach, Faramir took great pleasure in teasingly running his tongue across the tip before taking it into his mouth.

The warm, wet feeling of Faramir’s mouth almost proved Rúmil’s undoing and he cried out and writhed frantically as the ranger sucked and licked and teased.

“There’s some oil,” he stammered in between the torture he was receiving. “You have to prepare me. Spread some on your fingers.”

Reluctantly Faramir moved away to find the oil, not entirely sure what to do with it, he had seen men, fellow rangers, couple before, but never had he paid much attention to see how they ‘prepared’ each other.

“Tell me what to do.”

Faramir kissed Rúmil once again, this time his desire and need dominating over the multitude of other emotions he was feeling. As Rúmil had directed, he slipped one finger past the ring of tight muscle at Rúmil’s entrance and set about stretching it, while trying his best to cause as little pain and discomfort as possible. Only when he felt the elf was completely relaxed and ready, did he add the second finger.

Rúmil winced slightly, but soon relaxed again, enjoying the feeling of Faramir’s fingers inside him. “That feels wonderful,” he said with a moan. “Now, curl your finger round, there is a small lump inside… Ai! That is it!”

His body arched as Faramir’s finger brushed over his prostate, causing white spots to dance before his eyes. “You would not believe how good that feels,” he whimpered as the same spot was touched again. “Now, add a third finger.”

Faramir happily obliged, at the same time taking Rúmil’s erection back into his mouth, unable to resist the double assault which caused the figure underneath him to writhe which such pleasure.

“By the Valar!” Rúmil cried. “Stop with this torture, I am ready, take me.”

Faramir was only too happy to oblige, though he was not sure if he would be able to make this last as he wished, he was already very close just from the noises which passed Rúmil’s lips and the look of desire in his eyes.

After spreading a few drops of the oil on his arousal, Faramir positioned himself carefully against Rúmil’s entrance. Taking a deep breath, and shutting his eyes he pushed in part way before pausing to allow Rúmil’s body to adjust to the new intrusion, only continuing once he was ready.

“You are so beautiful,” Faramir whispered, seeing the desire and need in this companion’s eyes. He wanted to say more, but knew that now was not the time to get poetic, and so instead he pushed himself deeper into Rúmil’s body, sheathing himself completely, the tight muscles clenching almost painfully around him.

As he started to thrust in and out, Rúmil wrapped his legs around Faramir’s waist pulling him downwards so he could reach those full lips which he adored so much, drowning out his cries of pleasure in another mind-blowing kiss.

Faramir found himself being pushed closer and closer to the edge with every thrust he made, the emotions he was feeling far to intense to be able to control his actions. His movements became harder and faster, brushing over Rúmil’s prostate again and again.

“I am sorry,” he whispered, placing kisses down Rúmil’s neck. “I can not last.”

“Then let go,” replied Rúmil encouragingly. “I am just as close as you.”

Faramir found hat he could do nothing but obey, his next thrust sending him tumbling over the edge, he felt like he was floating in the clouds.

Rúmil joined him moments later, crying out his name, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close.

They lay there for a while recovering, trying to understand the intensity of the feelings they had felt, but maybe it was not something that could never been logically explained, not by any book, nor by even the wisest of men.

It was Rúmil who broke the silence first, voicing the words that neither of them wanted to speak.

“We must be on our way.”

Faramir simply nodded and placed a chaste kiss upon Rúmil’s lips before rising himself to his feet.

They started off again in silence, neither of them knowing quite what to say, but somehow they were more than comfortable in each other’s silence. It was only once they came to edge of the forest, out onto a well travelled path did things become awkward between them, knowing they needed to part, but neither one of them wanting to say goodbye.

“I think I can find my way from here,” said Rúmil finally, while wishing that Faramir could return with him all the way so that he could show him all the wonders that Lórien held, but he knew that no matter what, it was just not possible.

“Follow the path, but stay off of it. Keep yourself hidden in the trees,” replied Faramir, he too wishing that did not have to part company here. He wanted them to have more time together so that he could explore these feelings he had for the elf, but he could not leave Ithilien. He wrapped his arms around Rúmil and gently kissed his cheek.

“Take care, lirimaer (lovely one). If you ever pass this way again, ask for me.”

“Thank you, for everything Faramir,” replied Rúmil, throwing his arms around the ranger once more, not yet bearing to walk away. “Do not forget me, we will see each other again, I can feel it.”

It was then that he smiled before turning away and walking down the path.

“Never could I forget you,” whispered Faramir as he was sure Rúmil was out of hearing distance. “And hurry back, for the sun will not shine as brightly while you are gone.”
