Written for the 2010 Midwinter Swap.

Request by Anastasiya: Love story with Faramir/Boromir of Faramir/Aragorn and someone else who doesn’t want them to be together. Why? Because of Faramir or love for Faramir, I would like. I wish to see strong feelings and emotions, perhaps even jealousy, misunderstanding and disbelieve, but also great love.

Faramir and Boromir had been born into the wrong family, at the wrong time, and in the wrong bodies. Well at least one of them was anyway.

From the day he was born Boromir knew that he loved his younger brother. There was just something about him that drew Boromir to him no matter where he was, and Faramir was the same.

From the time Faramir was old enough to walk, he was following his older brother around and wanting to be with him everywhere he went and involved everything he did. He loved him.

Little did either of them know, that their love for each other was considered wrong and forbidden by all of mankind. While they were younger, people considered it adorable that Faramir was so devoted to his brother, but as they got older and darkness began settling over the land, people began to see the true love the two men had for each other.

Disgusted over the perceived display of affection by the brothers, a couple of older men demanded an audience with the King. Once they informed him of the evil that was being perpetuated by his sons, with each other no less, he demanded that Boromir be sent on a long patrol and Faramir be brought to him.

Neither man knew the horror that was to befall them when that order was carried out.

Faramir was watching Boromir cross the bridge when he was approached by a soldier informing that Denethor wanted to speak to him. Giving one last look at his retreating lover’s form he followed the soldier into the throne room. He approached his father and before he was able to ask what he wanted, Denethor backhanded him and sent him flying across the room. Walking over to the fallen man he began to belittle his son.

Along with the complaint from his subjects he had seen Boromir giving Faramir a kiss on the cheek in farewell and went ballistic with anger.

One of the guards had watched the beating and fearing for the young prince he sent a messenger to find Boromir and bring him home.

Faramir woke up to the feel of fingers running through his hair and his body screaming in pain. He tried to curl in on himself but was stopped by two strong and familiar hands on his shoulders. He forced his eyes open and found himself looking into his brother’s eyes.

“I love you.” He whispered on a moan as his head began to throb.

“Shhhh, easy lovely.” Boromir soothed. “Don’t try to speak, you have a broken jaw.”

Tears of pain escaped the younger man’s eyes as the pain became unbearable once more.

Knowing that Boromir was speaking to someone, but not being able to understand due to the pain he was surprised when a soft hand caressed his forehead and some of the pain eased.

“Open your eyes young one,” the gentle voice commanded.

“Elrond?”

“Boromir brought you to us to help you heal.” The Elven lord said. “You may stay as long as you wish.”

Faramir looked into Elrond’s grey eyes and saw only compassion and understanding in them. He knew that no matter what happened he would not be forced to return to his father and face his scorn once more.

“I can’t return. He will kill me if I go back.” Faramir confessed in tears.

“You are safe here my friend.” Elrond said. “Sleep for now and when you wake the pain will be gone.”

Putting his hand on the young human’s head Elrond sent his healing energy into the injured body.

“Will he be alright?” Boromir asked from the doorway.

Looking up at his friend the elf smiled reassuringly. “He will be, in time. He’s terrified right now and unsure if he is safe.”

“I will keep him safe or die trying!” Boromir vowed.

Putting his hand on Boromir’s shoulder he asked softly, “Even from your father?”

“I don’t give a damn what my father thinks.” He declared. “I am tired of hiding my
feelings for Faramir. I won’t do it any longer!”

From the bed Faramir whimpered and Boromir hurried to his lover’s side. Taking his injured body into his arms. “I won’t let anyone harm you Faramir, I swear this!”

It was a few weeks later and they were out at the falls having a light lunch with Boromir doting on Faramir’s every whim.

“I love you,” Faramir whispered as he pulled his brother’s head down for a deep kiss. “I am tired of running and hiding who I am and who I love.”

Boromir sat there for a few moments in shocked silence. He knew that Faramir loved him but he never thought that he would hear those words. Reaching down he ran his hand down the body beneath him only to stop at Faramir’s heart.

“You are my world. I would not be me without you.”

At the spur of the moment, Boromir looked at his lover and blurted, “Marry me.”

Faramir’s head whipped up and he looked at his brother in shock. “What?”

“Marry me?” Boromir asked earnestly. “Please.”

“We can’t.”
“Yes we can. We are living in Rivendell now. There are male elves here who are either betrothed or bound together. Elrond himself is bound to Glorfindel and Erestor. He can do the ceremony for us.”

“What about Denethor?” Faramir asked in fear, still terrified of their father who had slowly slipped into insanity.

“I don’t give a damn about him.” Boromir spat. “He has made our lives hell for long enough. He almost took you away from me.”

Kneeling down on one knee in front of Faramir, he took his brother’s still injured hand gently in his and asked once more, “Please Faramir, marry me. Make me the happiest man in all of Middle Earth?”

Closing his eyes, Faramir could not keep the tears from escaping and running down his face. He had always been told it was wrong for him to love his brother, but he couldn’t help himself. No matter how hard he tried.

Growing up Denethor had found them in an embrace just before a party and after Boromir had left to attend, his father had stormed into the room and threw him across the room screaming at him how disgusting he was and he better stop tempting Boromir or he would make him pay.

Pay Faramir did. He tried to deny his feelings, but no matter what he did Denethor never believed him. He had spies watching both Boromir and Faramir in and out of the palace. On patrol they were not allowed to go the same places nor even attend the same functions.

One evening after Boromir had been injured he had called out for Faramir when Denethor was in the room which caused his father to almost kill the guard in his anger as he crashed out of the room to get to the bastard that was unfortunately his youngest son.

He found him in the training area and after tearing a sword out of a soldier’s hand he attacked Faramir brutally. At first, Faramir was to stunned to realize what was happening which allowed Denethor to cut him several times. It was sheer instinct of a seasoned solider that allowed Faramir to protect himself and managed to cause injures of his own to the king.

It was then that he saw the signs of insanity in his father’s eyes. It was that day that he knew that if he didn’t escape the city he would be killed by his father or one of his father’s loyal guards.

Pulling himself back from the past, Faramir looked up at Boromir with the tears still in his eyes.

“I love you brother.” Faramir said. “With all that I am and all that I have I love you.”

Dropping down to his knees he wrapped his arms around Boromir’s strong shoulders and leaned in to kiss him deeply.

“Yes, I will marry you.” Faramir said softly. “But you are wrong about one thing.”

With tears in his own eyes, Boromir looked at his future mate in question.

“What was I wrong about?” he asked softly.

“It’s not you that will be the luckiest man in Middle Earth.” Faramir said as he brushed the tears off of Boromir’s face. “I am.”

Oh, it’s a very gentle and beautiful story, dear Calestel. Thank you! I am so happy that you wrote this to my request and hope it was not very difficult to you.
I must admit that I was very surprised reading that Boromir is going to merry Faramir and now I wait for sequel. Are you going to write it?
